Pride of Britain Award Winner – Hezron Brown

On Thursday 30th January, we were delighted to welcome in Pride of Britain 2019 award winner Hezron Brown. He shared his inspirational story with Years 7, 8 and 9, from the adversity he faced as a young person to receiving his prestigious award from the Prince of Wales.

 
Hezron also led workshops with Years 10 and 11 about resilience and self belief. His enthusiasm for excellence and achievement was in abundance throughout the day, and our Mentors in Violence Prevention enjoyed having lunch with Hezron. They were treated to a Q and A session about how they could support younger pupils in building their emotional intelligence. They were then presented with their MVP jackets which they will wear with pride when supporting the school community.
 
All at Washwood Heath Academy would like to thank Hezron for his visit and are very grateful for his advice on how we can all be ready, respectful and safe in our lives. We will now follow the Washwood Way with even more happiness.
