Culture Day 2025

On 10th July we celebrated our Culture Day- 'The power of diversity and community'.
The start off the festivities we decorated the school with the flags of the world, pupils came to school dressed to impress and were a beautiful sight to behold. Every student attended the culture fayre, with visitors from Riverside performing arts pupils learnt about China, The Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Bermuda. There was also a pop up library full of cultural reading books and the kitchen staff arranged tasters at the food pods for all to enjoy.
Thank You to the Art department for the amazing art gallery and to Ms Aisha for her print Art that all pupils took part in, creating a silk representative of all the pupils in our Academy.
Every year group in the secondary phase and the very lucky Year 4 class watched the culture day concert, with the wonderful sound of the Dohl group, year 7 steel pans group, the Washwood Heath Rock and Pop band and solo performance from our year 9 vocalist Raqeya- The concert was fabulous and really showcased the amazing progress made by our pupils that take part in peripatetic music lessons- Thank You to Mr Spooner
Part of the concert was the hugely popular and colourful Fashion Show- the confidence shown by all the girls involved was an inspiration to all those sitting in the audience, it was really fun to watch - Thank You Ms McIntosh
We offered some exciting additions to our lunch menu and pupils enjoyed lots of free fruit on the field in the sun at lunch time.
Culture Day really celebrates The diversity and Inclusion in our academy and this year we focused on the meaning of community, cultural story telling and identity.
Thank you to Ms Dixon for her hard work.
We are already looking forward to Culture Day next year! A huge well done to pupils and staff for a wonderful day.
