Secondary Phase STEM club

In our third STEM Club session, pupils tackled the challenge of creating artificial suns to help plants grow in space. Acting as botanists, they tested different light sources on geranium cuttings and seeds, studying how light colours affect growth, stem length, and leaf development.
Students also imagined an asteroid impact blocking Earth's sunlight and explored how artificial light could support plant growth in such conditions. They investigated which colours were most effective for growing watercress indoors.
Their curiosity and problem-solving skills shone through, making this session a great success. Thank you to everyone involved. We look forward to seeing what our budding scientists achieve next.
