Royal Air Force Air Cadets-A WHA pupils' experience.

We are very proud that one of our year 9 pupils is a member of the Royal Air Force Cadets and was given the opportunity to attend an 'Air Experience Flying Day'- we asked Arooj to share her experience with us.....
Hi My name is Arooj but on squadron I'm Cadet Aldred and I am a Royal Air Force Air Cadet.
On January 17th I had the pleasure of attending the Royal Air Force Air Cadet- Air Experience Flying (RAFAC AEF). This meant I was able to fly in a Grob Tutor T1 which is basically a small plane for beginners to practice in while they learn, and eventually get to fly the bigger planes as their skills improve. I had the opportunity to do a variety of aerobatic manoeuvres such as loops pulling G’s and rolls. With the assistance of a trained pilot of course who took of and landed for me. After bending the laws of gravity we took a few selfies and touched back down at RAF Cosford. Before removing my coveralls and helmet. My favourite part of flying was experiencing negative G and watching my Pilots glove float right above his head inside the cockpit.
Another memorable moment that I experienced as part of this programme, was last year when I attended RAF Whittering summer camp. I had the opportunity to go sailing, visit the red arrows hanger and see the planes, sit in the Harrier jet, cook with the military chefs and rev up an armoured truck.
I have also gained many qualifications such as Marching Band, Leadership, Radio and First Aid. I also do many things on squadron like marching, fieldcraft and weapon training. Not to forget meeting amazing friends along the way and having a laugh with them every week.
I look forward to gaining many more experiences and sharing them with my peers at school.
