As part of the Washwood Heath Academy’s zero tolerance approach to bullying, we are delighted to announce a week of activities for the through school which aim to educate on the causes of bullying and equip learners with the skills to prevent all forms of bullying.

We are welcoming in ‘West End in Schools’ to deliver workshops about bullying in the Primary Phase, and an organisation called ‘Stand Against Violence’ will bring a team to Washwood to convey a powerful message about bullying and work with small groups of learners in the Secondary Phase and Sixth Form.

To mark the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week, the pastoral teams will be handing out free Anti-Bullying wrist bands as part of the ‘Reach Out’ campaign. During the rest of the week, every pupil will receive a student led Anti-Bullying assembly about emotional intelligence, childrens rights and the Academy’s ethos on zero tolerance to bullying. Pupils will also have the opportunity to earn an Anti-Bullying pin badge by contributing to a whole school Anti-Bullying map of the school.

Washwood Heath Academy will bring Anti-Bullying Week to a close on Friday 18th November with the Anti-Bullying Pledge signing, by which every member of the school community will sign a document in form time stating that they will not tolerate being a victim of, being a bystander to or commiting any act of Bullying. This will be complemented by whole school Anti-Bullying lessons in the afternoon.
