Year 10 History- Visit to the Thackray Museum Leeds

Year 10 history students visited the Thackray Museum of Medicine in Leeds to support their knowledge of the GCSE 'Medicine in Britain' unit. The museum boasts a variety of exhibitions that took students on a journey of how medicine in Britian has evolved over time. From a Victorian 'Disease Street' right through to students being able to operate some of the earliest X-ray machines, looking at how technology and scientific thinking has been the gateway to medical advancements. Students also took part in a 'History of Surgery' workshop where they had a demonstration of the challenges facing surgeons in the early 1800s.
A very successful and enjoyable day for Team History!
