Celebrating Culture at Washwood Heath Academy
Washwood Heath Academy recently came together for our annual Culture Day, celebrating the rich diversity, heritage and traditions that make our school community so special. The day provided pupils with the opportunity to learn about different cultures, celebrate their own identities and experience the stories, music, food and traditions of communities from around the world.
Throughout the day, pupils took part in a range of engaging classroom activities exploring culture and identity, the global journey of chocolate from cocoa bean to Cadbury, and the unique history of Bournville. They also enjoyed our vibrant Culture Fayre, featuring interactive stalls, cultural performances, African drumming, food tasting experiences and a spectacular showcase concert celebrating global music, fashion and heritage.
The event was a fantastic celebration of inclusion, respect and belonging, allowing pupils to learn from one another while recognising and valuing the diversity within our school community. We were also proud to support Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity, with pupils and staff raising money through non-uniform donations and fundraising activities.
A huge thank you goes to our staff, pupils, visiting organisations and performers who helped make the day such a memorable success. Their enthusiasm and commitment ensured that Culture Day was a wonderful celebration of our shared values and the vibrant community we are proud to be part of.
