Year 7 STEM engineers rise to the challenge

As part of British Science Week, our Year 7 students took part in an exciting STEM Engineering Workshop delivered by Neon, stepping into the role of structural engineers. Their challenge? To design and build a tower capable of withstanding either an earthquake or a hurricane.

Working in teams, students carefully budgeted materials, balancing cost and stability to create the tallest, most resilient structure. Their towers then faced powerful winds or tremors to test their durability, with excitement running high as they watched their designs put to the test!

Beyond engineering and construction, the workshop fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and budgeting skills. It concluded with a discussion on real-world STEM careers, inspiring students to explore future pathways.

Well done to all participants, and a massive Thank you to all staff who supported the workshop!
