Secondary Phase SEND trip to the Houses of Parliament

KS3 SEND Trip to the Houses of Parliament: A Day of Learning and Adventure in London
In February, a group of 10 SEND pupils set off on an unforgettable trip to London, filled with excitement and learning. The journey began with a train and tube ride, setting the stage for a day packed with memorable experiences.
Our first stop was the iconic Big Ben, where students admired the greatness of this historic clock tower. The group then enjoyed a picnic by the River Thames, soaking in the scenic views and the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
The highlight of the trip was a comprehensive tour of the Houses of Parliament. Students had the unique opportunity to explore many of the magnificent parliamentary rooms and even sit in the House of Lords chamber ! The tour was both informative and inspiring, offering a glimpse into the workings of the UK's political system.
Adding to the educational value of the trip, students participated in engaging workshops about petitions. These sessions provided valuable insights into how citizens can influence government decisions and the importance of civic participation.
The day concluded with a walk to Downing Street, where students got a close-up view of the Prime Minister's residence. This final stop was the perfect end to a day filled with learning and exploration.
Overall, the trip was a fantastic experience for our KS3 SEND students, combining education with fun and leaving everyone with lasting memories. We look forward to more such enriching trips in the future!
